From Ken & Barbara Sibley

This Is No Illusion

Every illusion on our stage has an explanation, and we tell you so up front. But what you are about to read has no trick behind it — it is the plain, wonderful truth of God’s Word about you, about Him, and about the free gift of eternal life. Take three minutes and walk the road below. It could change everything — forever.

Walk the Romans Road

Five truths. Straight from the Bible.

Tap each curtain to reveal the next truth on the road.

The Honest Truth

All of us have sinned

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”Romans 3:23

Good people, kind people, religious people — all people. God’s standard is His own perfect glory, and every one of us falls short of it. Before the Great Physician can heal us, we have to admit we are sick. That’s where the road begins: not with pretending, but with honesty.

The Bad News

Sin pays a wage — death

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”Romans 6:23

A wage is what you earn. What our sin earns is death — separation from God, now and forever. But read the verse again: it doesn’t stop at the bad news. In the very same breath God offers a gift. A wage is earned; a gift is simply received.

The Good News

But God loved you first

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”Romans 5:8

God did not wait for you to clean yourself up. While we were still sinners, Jesus Christ — God’s own Son — took your place on the cross, bore your sin, was buried, and rose again the third day. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

The Heart of It All

By grace alone, through faith alone

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”Ephesians 2:8–9

Here is the truth so many miss: salvation cannot be earned. Not by church membership, not by baptism, not by good deeds, not by being “good enough” — not of works. It is God’s grace — His undeserved kindness — received through simple faith in Jesus Christ alone. “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us” (Titus 3:5). If you could earn it, it wouldn’t be a gift.

Your Move

Whosoever shall call

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”Romans 10:9, 13

“Whosoever” means you. Right where you are — no stage, no altar, no special words required — turn to God, trust that Jesus died for your sin and rose again, and call on Him. He keeps His promises. Every one of them.

Settle it today

If you believe Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again, tell Him so. There is nothing magic about the words — God looks at the heart. You might pray something like this:

“Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and cannot save myself. I believe You died on the cross for my sins and rose from the grave. Right now I turn from my sin and trust You alone as my Savior. Thank You for the free gift of eternal life. Amen.”

Praying a prayer doesn’t save you — trusting Christ does. And Jesus said, “He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” (John 5:24). Not might have. Not hopes for. Hath — a present possession that can never be taken away.

You called on Him? Wonderful!

What to do next

1. Tell somebody

Tell a Christian friend, a pastor — and tell us! Nothing would thrill Ken & Barbara more than to hear it. Send us a note →

2. Find a Bible-preaching church

Follow the Lord in believer’s baptism and grow with God’s people in a church that preaches the Book. If you need help finding one near you, ask us.

3. Read God’s Word

Start with the Gospel of John — one chapter a day — and talk to God in prayer as you go. The same Word that saved you will grow you.
